As a wine enthusiast wine girly, on a quest to try as many wines as possible, I started realizing that my preferences were consistently geared towards French wine. It’s no wonder, considering that French winemakers have been perfecting their craft for over 2,600 years, dating back to 500 BC. I have to say, they’ve truly mastered it. With over 9 famous wine regions in France, from Bordeaux to Alsace, my taste buds sing with joy from all the blended red wines (which I now favor), such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m always excited to try new French wines.
French wine isn’t my only love, just the main squeeze at the moment. I enjoy wines from all over, from Italy, Spain, the USA, Australia, Portugal, Germany, to Chile. Though I haven’t visited all of these countries, with every sip, I feel like I’m taken on a trip. I know that sounds dramatic, but what can I say? I’m a dramatic chick. Truly, though, I’m transported to a place of appreciation, wondering who created this masterpiece, what were the climate conditions, and who the heck came up with the concept of winemaking? I’m just grateful to experience all this goodness in a glass bottle. I salute the first winemaker!
Here’s a list of some of my favorite wines and champagnes, in no particular order:
